Interlake RV Park (Campground Review)

Larry gave us this review on 06/08/09. Dates of Stay: June 5-9, 2009. Will You Return? Undecided. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 16 feet extended

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? Clean sites, well maintained grounds, well labeled camp sites, clean restrooms.

Owners and Staff: Friendly and helpful with information

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Well landscaped, maintenance people visible all day, very pretty and clean.

Overall Site Quality: very good

Good sites: Most are fine and reasonably level Bad sites: 152 & 151 - tree roots and very uneven site.

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, wifi Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. All picnic tables are labeled with the site they came from so no mix and matching with other sites.

Cell Phone Service: Cell phone service by Verizon Wireless was pretty good in most of the campground, but not great.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The mens restrooms near the pool have been w/o of paper towels for 3 of the 6 days we have been here. TP replaced, but it doesn"t look like it's been cleaned while we were here. Restrooms on the hill are accessible ONLY by going thru someones campsite and not driveable. Sort of in the middle of the sites and on a steep hill. Showers were HOT all the time. Twenty five cents buys 5 minutes of shower time. Hooks in stalls would be appreciated as there are none. Restroom and shower stalls are plenty large enough for big people too. (like myself)

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, pool table, playground, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, security gate. The store closes by 6pm every day and is not open on the weekends which means ice, firewood, boat rentals could not be accessed. This stuff should be relocated to the snack bar area to make it more accessible to all. The snack bar is open 9-6. The office is open 9-6 BUT when we went to buy firewood at 5:45pm it was closed. We wanted ice cream on Saturday night after dinner at 7pm and unfortunetly it was not available as the snack bar had closed already. On a weekend, the snack bar should be open later or at least thru 9pm as there are many families with kids.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. BUT, nearby is 7 to 10 miles away. There is nothing within 5 minutes of the campground! So you must plan ahead to get things while you are out.

Within 30 minutes are many places to visit and tour such as: The Samuel Morse Locust Grove, FDR house, library/museum and grounds, Vanderbilt mansion and grounds, Opus 40 (pretty cool!) and many wineries. The Hudson river is nearby for boat rides, kayaking, hiking along it and boating. Plus the Rhinebeck aerodrome for airplane lover! Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Kingston and surrounding towns are interesting and historic. We spent 6 days here on a very leisurely schedule and had fun! Bring extra cash tho as things and fuel are not cheap!

Last comments: A nice campground. Very quiet which we enjoyed even on the weekends. A few niggles to improve upon prevent us from giving it an excellent rating. But it definetly is a nice campground and we may return someday.
