Madden Family gave us this review on 08/03/05. Approx Dates of Stay: July 24, 2005 - August 2, 2005.
Overall Campground Rating: fair-average.
What stood out? These sites are very small and very close together, as well as very close to the roads. We are used to at least a few trees between the sites, and a small amount of privacy and although we had heard that most of the campgrounds in Old Orchard were crowded, it was very dissapointing and a little shocking when we first arrived and got a look at our site. One other thing, the first night there was a group directly across from us being very loud until after midnight, and no one from security showed up to quiet them down - surprising for a family campground.
Owners and Staff: The word would be average. They could have been friendlier for sure. As we checked out and handed in our gate pass, there was no "thank you" or "come again".
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pine trees kept the site shady (this was a good thing), but the whole site was dirt/rocks, no grass at all, made for alot of dust. Also, the edge of our site had the electricity transformers on it.
Overall Site Quality: not good
Good/Bad sites: As we looked around, there weren't any great sites. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Way too close together, within sneezing distance of five other campsites.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? don't remember. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Showers were great, lots of hot water - perfect for rinsing off after a day at the beach. Bathrooms were clean, and bright.
Activities and Amenities
pool, recreation hall, video games, playground, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, security gate. Small playground, and no planned activities for children. The pool was clean but the chairs were not.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, amusements, The beach is amazing and the whole atmosphere of Old Orchard Beach is lots of fun! Our vacation was spectacular.
Last comments: Thank goodness for the beautiful Old Orchard Beach. You don't come here for the camping, you come for the beach and use this solely as a place to shower and sleep at the end of the day.
