Approx Dates of Stay: 9/3/04-9/6/04. Overall Campground Rating: excellent. What stood out? There was a lot to do for our children. Everyone was very friendly. We were impressed with the number of different activities done throughout the summer. We prefer pull thru sites but had no trouble backing in because our site was so deep. Owners and Staff: The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Bill guided us to our site which was helpful because it was our first time. There are a lot of seasonal campers but they are so welcoming like a big family. Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground is located on a beautiful river. They also offer a pond and swimming pool. My children love to fish and explore so they had a great time which helped us relax as well. The entrance was neat and nicely planted with a view of the pond. The roads are not paved but that slowed down people on bicycles.
Overall Site Quality: very good. Good/Bad site #'s: all sites were of good size but river sites are most beautiful. Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Sites are spacious and well located in reference to bathrooms and the river. Everything is certainly within walking distance. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, Seasonal sites are located throughout the campground but not next to any tenting areas so they do not stand out except for the fact that they are so well landscaped.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The bathrooms were cleaned four times per day which was very nice to see. The shower building is bright, clean and easily accessible.
Activities and Amenities: pool, pond, river, swimming, fishing, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. The campground has a security gate and night time security which gave us great peace of mind. The hayrides and Craft Shop were very memorable times for our children and us because we could do it together as a family. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Nearby attractions also include Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos. Last comments: We will be returning next year. We are hoping to plan our family reunion there as well. Do they have any open seasonal sites?
