What stood out? Amazing beaches. There are seven of them, which are not crowded at all. The island itself is amazing, being a cross between the sandy dunes, the rocky bluffs, and the wooded forest. Truelly excellent!!!
Owners and Staff: Very proffesional. They are always on top of things, keeping all of the beaches and the facilities clean.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Private island, having rocky bluffs, sandy dunes, and a densly wooded forest. The best part is you can camp in all three of these environments. There are hiking trails, seven white sand beaches, fishing, biking and boating.
Good sites: Too hard to tell. Check your first year there, then request the good sites the next year. Bad sites: Not really any bad sites.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, Just the way it should be!!! Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, There are all different types of sites. These can be up on the rocky bluffs, down in the dunes by the beaches, or deep in the forest.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: Contact the island for details on seasonal camping.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean, with hot water. Be sure to be close to the flush toilets, because the pit toilets can be a little smelly.
ocean, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, laundry room, security gate. The island activities are what sets Hermit Island apart. They are truely exceptional, as they are geared towards getting the entire family outside and active.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Plenty of nearby attractions within a short drive from the island. The best is to check out nearby Popham Beach.
