Approx Dates of Stay: 8/1-8/3. Overall Campground Rating: not good. What stood out? Very wooded - this was the only saving grace of the trip. This campground is roughly 95% seasonal and they park any old way they feel. Very rocky and un-groomed. The car bottomed-out all over the place. Very good potential, if new owners can turn it around. Bathrooms or should I say lack of them. One toilet for half the campground. Never did find the other. Owners and Staff: The staff here was the best I ever encountered anywhere. Makes it very hard for me to say how bad it was there. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Roads were awful. Upgrades and rocky, compounded by seasonals with a "I will park where and how I feel" attitude making any drive hair-raising. Very woody.
Overall Site Quality: not good. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, picnic table; My first site I couldn't get into, had to give up after a half an hour. One of the inconsiderate seasonals was parked half in the road and wouldn't move his pickup. Added to this, I was dragging my safety (anti-bottoming) wheels most of the time (Yes I do know how to drive. I do and have driven Big trucks and Fire Engines most of my life.) The sites needed grading. We snapped the shackles on my daughters TT trying to get out because we couldn't get around the seasonals parked in the roads. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, too many seasonal sites. Need thinning out and more control over them. They think they own the place!
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Need more bathrooms and showers.
Activities and Amenities: pond, theme weekends, camp store, AM coffee, pets allowed, dumping station. Very good store. What is nearby? grocery stores, retail stores. This area of CT is great. Last comments: We can only say that not one person there we met (non-seasonal) said they will be back. All of us had some damage done to our RV's trying to get in or out. I myself want to try again later after the new owner has had a chance to tidy up, widen and regrade. Till then I can only say this is for Pop-ups and small TT's (20' and under).
