Web site: Fort Whaley Family Campground

Whaleyville, MD - 1-888-322-7717

wersilly gave us this review on 07/15/08. Dates of Stay: Multiple Stays. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 31 Ft.

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Good: Lots of activities. Close to the ocean and Assateague Island. Nice sites. Very clean. Bad: The only negative that I have encountered is that they charge $8.00 a night more for "lake front sites", but their lake is a green pond and the sites they charge more for are across the road from it! When you back the camper in you would not even be able to see it.

Owners and Staff: All were friendly and helpful.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground is located approx. 15 miles from the ocean. It is very clean and well taken care of.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: Almost all of the sites are good sites. Bad sites: Sites 9 & 10. They are huge sites, but they are located right along the campground road. We stayed in site #10 and we had no privacy because our camper faced the road and at night the car lights would shine in our site and our camper windows!!

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Whatever type of site you like, they have it!

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: There are none.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Super clean, but very busy!

Activities and Amenities

pool, pond, ocean, swimming, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Lots of activities everyday for the kids. They even have a small mini-golf that is free. Free waterpark which is also available to Fort Whaley gests at their sister campground, Frontier Town.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, Ocean City, Md and Assateague Island are minutes away.

Last comments: This is a nice campground for the beach area. It is very expensive, but no more than any other campground in the same area.
