Nobelboro, Maine -
Scott Caron gave us this review on 08/19/07. Dates of Stay: 7/2007-8/2007. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Travel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 25'
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Earlier reviews indicated less that ideal conditions, but decided to try it anyway. Found a campground in transition. New owners (4 years) have been working very hard to improve the facilities here. New security/welcome gate built at the entrance. An old barn previously at the entrance was moved and is being renovated as a rec room. Six new cabins were built as rental units.
Owners and Staff: Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Most areas of the campground were wooded sites. There was also an open square grass area where the sites surround a large play area and covered gazebo, playground and horseshoes. However, we were placed in a new area just developed for large motor homes. These sites were cramped, and all dirt. Also, this area is away from the "central" area, and most of the festivities. These sites had electric, water and sewer. Also, these sites were wired for 50 amp service, so I needed an adapter for this.
Overall Site Quality: fair-average
Good sites: Most sites were O.K., but some looked tough to access with a trailer. Bad sites: Sites 102-110 were in the new area and are for large motor homes only. All dirt, and just wide enough for your unit and canopy.
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, somewhat small, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, There is no cable TV anywhere in the campground, which is too bad since TV reception is poor. Also, there was a wifi signal present from the campground, but it was not for public access.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no.
Activities and Amenities
pond, swimming, fishing, boating, video games, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails.
Last comments: They should add cable TV and WiFi internet. I would think that the seasonals would like this, if not the transients.
