Whistlin Dixie gave us this review on 08/03/05. Approx Dates of Stay: July 2005.
What stood out? Nice, quiet, clean campground. Peaceful surroundings. The campground has a heated pool with a large sundeck, a kid's playground system, themed weekends, but no daily planned activities during the week, a privately stocked catch & release fishing pond, a group campfire pavillion, horseshoes, basketball, paddle boat rentals, honey wagon available, dump station, a camp store with groceries, ice and wood, a pay phone, fax, and modem hookup, a small rec hall with an arcade, hayrides, laundromat with 3 washers & 3 dryers, badminton, ping pong, movies, dances, pool table and volleyball. There is no cable so the TV reception is rather poor as is cell phone reception seeing the campground is surrounded by mountains.
Owners and Staff: New owners, Tom & Lori Devaney, have owned the campground since May 2005 and are very friendly and helpful. They are pleasant to talk to and would help you in any way they could.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground has 100 mostly grassy sites and paved roads so the area does not get muddy when it rains. They also have cabins that are available. There are many trees for shade and the grounds are well maintained.
Good/Bad sites: Sites along the pond were our favorites. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Some sites are a bit close, especially if they have a busy weekend, but when we were there, there was no one around us during the week. Other sites were further apart and had more privacy.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,
