Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Very peaceful, yet good access to nearby activities in and around Camden.

Owners and Staff: Very helpful and accommodating - we arrived very late in the evening and they were great.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Fantastic views of Camden Harbor from Mount Battie. Landscape really good - forested with open spaces for group camping and such.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: We stayed at 105 - any in that area seemed good. Bad sites: Couldn't really say.

Campsite hookups: primitive tent; I think that Maine state parks generally do not offer hookups? Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes.

Activities and Amenities

pets allowed, dumping station; Firewood for sale. Stores are down the road towards Camden and such.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, nature trails.

Last comments: Fantastic place for a real getaway from the rat race. We're going back this year!

  1. I love this part of Maine! I would love to dry camp there, but it would take some good preparation! But this place does sound fantastic!

  2. I agree with this post. Camden State Park is a great place to camp. We have camped at Camden many times over the past twenty years and just recently came back from camping there again in July 2006.  Just a note to say that Maine is considering putting electricity in the campsites at Camden and Sebago Lake State Park within the next two years. Personally, I think I like it better the way it is.  The campground is very quiet and peaceful without the electricity.  smile

  3. ooh Karen….I think I would love it if Maine state parks had electricity! I guess we are just so spoiled. I wouldn’t care about sewage, but electric and water would be a fine addition!
