David gave us this review on 07/25/07. Dates of Stay: July/2007. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Beautiful Spectacle Pond. Clean sites and new bathroom in our loop.

Owners and Staff: Friendly, helpful. Frequent drive throughs.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Well landscaped with flowers at entrance.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good sites: Sites near the pond are nice. Easy access for our kayaks. Bad sites: Some sites are best suited for tents, not rv's. It is best to ask when calling to make a reservation.

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, Dumping station available at entrance to park. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, picnic table, fire ring, Many of the sites were well spaced and can accomodate larger rv's, but like many state parks there are not hookups.

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean and well kept.

Activities and Amenities

pond, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, playground, kids planned activities, pets allowed, dumping station, What I liked about this state park, are the planned nature talks/activities for the kids. Good fishing, and hiking. Nice small town nearby with a few restaurants, convenience stores and farmers market on Friday afternoons.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. There is swimming in the pond with a nice beach area, a half mile down the road is a larger beach area at Island Pond, a larger pond (lake) which is free to campers. There are picnic tables with charcoal grills and a beautiful view of the pond and mountains. Within a few miles of other lakes and ponds and the Canadian border.

Last comments: This is one of the best Vermont campgrounds I've been to. I will return again and stay longer next time.
