Gail gave us this review on 04/28/09. Dates of Stay: April 17-19, 2009. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 20 ft
What stood out? Good: We were situated in the seasonal section for a weekend stay and all our neighbors were very friendly. Pond appeared clean and was picturesque. Seasonals kept up nice. Most weekend sites were reasonably good size, some very nice. Free showers. Camp store. Not so good: Rec Hall needs a good facelift and some more money put into it. New sites were just dirt, mulch or gravel should have been put down to help with dust/mud.
Owners and Staff: Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. Both women who answered our questions at the office were knowledgeable and patient (and it was a busy weekend!).
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Good mix of wooded and open sites. At least 15-20 are situated along the pond with some of these being weekend sites. Landscaping is basic but it was also early in the season. Most of the seasonals appeared to be well-cared for. Pond is fairly small but has a swimming area and fishing spots. Some hiking trails (short ones).
Good sites: A nice bit of privacy - #'s 194, 195 196, 197. We actually like #3, even though it's on the main drive entering the CG, it's a good size and very close to restrooms and activities. One side is a path, so no neighbor. Bad sites: Even though they're pondside - these are dirt ground and not attractive to me - #'s 202-214. Also 151 is just stuck behind the rec hall, no privacy, just stuck there.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Not sure about the cable and Wifi. Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. CG is well off any main road so very quiet. No loud partying that we heard. Most sites have gravel, dirt or grass.
Cell Phone Service: Verizon Wireless worked fine here.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, The CG will put weekenders in empty seasonal sites (we were in site #78). Overall we found everyone very pleasant and helpful. most were in good to excellent condition. Not a snobbish place though.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: New bathhouse plus 2 others. Accessibility is good.
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station; Horseshoes are big here and they have a nice area to play the game. Nice reclining loungers for movie viewings. Massage therapist can be called and booked (private room). Separate area for dogs to splash in pond. Several poker games throughout weekend in adult lounge.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, nature trails. This is a beautiful section of CT. There are a few restaurants nearby (of the pizza variety). We didn't go to any stores, but on the sheet given to you when you check in, there is a list of nearby restaurants, stores, etc with directions. None seemed too far away.
Last comments: We liked BriaLee. We've booked for Memorial Day and hopefully it will be warm enough for the pool to be opened up!
