renae gave us this review on 09/04/06. Dates of Stay: June 2004. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Tent

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Clean, natural, lots of space, beautiful surroundings!!!

Owners and Staff: very helpful!

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Beautiful. You can see mountains and the ocean. Located in Acadia National Park.

Overall Site Quality:

Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, unsure about cable and wifi, we tent-camped Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, large and spacious, close to the road, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. All sites were spacious and not close to neighbors. The RV section is separate which was nice for tent-campers. The camp site is very quiet. The rangers provide firewood on a regular basis but you have to pick it up along the various roads.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly; Limited sites in high demand during July and August, the sites are fairly large which accounts for fewer sites, get there early!

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Shower facility is a short distance down the road and is metered. This was the only disadvantage and is survivable. The showers have an attendant who cleans them throughout the day. The cost is .25 per five minutes.

Activities and Amenities

ocean, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, kids planned activities, dumping station, security gate. There is a general store right down the road. People who come here should be able to enjoy outdoors activities and a natural environment. If you can't live without tv and video games, this probably isn't for you.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Nearby Bar Harbor has many amenities and good nightlife as well as artistic shops.

Last comments: Beautiful national park for nature lovers. You can hike, swim, fish, backpack, boat in the ocean, visit artsy shops and seaside towns. it has everything. Good for all ages who want a varied vacation with lots of beautiful photo ops. I would go there again!
