Approx Dates of Stay: Sept 12-19, 2002. Overall Campground Rating: excellent. What stood out? Very large wooded sites. Owners and Staff: Owners Ed and Linda were very friendly and helpful. Camp landscaping and surroundings: Nice natural trees and shrubs surround most sites giving a feeling of privacy. One can see Mt. Washington from one point in the CG. 133 sites.
Overall Site Quality: excellent. Good/Bad site #'s: Many good sites. We had #167 with 3 way which was very large. Many sites surrounded by trees on 3 sides. I didn't see any "bad" sites. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer. Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring. Could hear some road noise from Rt. 302 from our site but it was not a problem. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating?
yes. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional
comments on restrooms and showers: Only 2 shower stalls per gender. They are
slightly small. This is the only detracting feature of this CG for us. Reservations
accepted.
Activities and Amenities: pool, river, swimming, fishing, recreation hall,
pool table, tv or movies, playground, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry
room, dumping station, security gate. River is within walking distance. Few Summer
seasonals. The one I talked to was very friendly and helpful with info on the area.
What is nearby? restaurants, ocean or lake, nature trails. Centrally located
for many White Mtn. attractions such as: Cog Railway to Mtn. Washington, Franconia
State Park with Old Man of The Mtn., The Flume and other attractions. 40 miles to
N. Conway for Conway Scenic Railroad and outlet shopping. Crawford State Park for
hiking. Lots of hiking in the National Forest. About 30 miles to Clark's Trading Post
for the kids. Lots to see and do there. Last comments: We were very pleased
with this campground. The seasonal I met said he had been in several others in the
area and preferred this one. I checked several others out and would stay here again.
7th night free if pay cash or check, security gate. Sat. hay ride. No bugs (probably
because we went in Sept). $27-$29?
