Monmouth, Me. -
Saunie Brown gave us this review on 07/10/07. Dates of Stay: 6/30/07 to 7/7/07. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? 5th Wheel Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 28 foot
Overall Campground Rating: not good.
What stood out? The only full hookup sites were very unkept, and mostly sand.
Owners and Staff: Don't know which ones the owners were, but no one there was very friendly.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground is very large, but very untidy. There is dog poo everywhere on the ground, the staff didn't even clean up after their dogs. Dogs are allowed to bark non stop even after quiet time. Surroundings are nice, there are lots of things to do and see in the near by Augusta area.
Overall Site Quality: not good
Good sites: Didn't really see any. Bad sites: 1-8
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, close to the road, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, Very uneven sand, washouts, grass not mowed and don't step in the dog poo. It's everywhere.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: cluttered, snobby seasonal campers, Barking dogs, and unfriendly people.
Clean restrooms and showers? no. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? . Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Didn't use them, but I do know that in the laundry room, the washers were filthy inside, and the floor was filthy.
Activities and Amenities
pool, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, Pool was cold, and there were people smoking and drinking there. There was a snack bar but it was expensive. (2.00 for a PB&J sandwich)
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. The surrounding towns are awesome. Lots to do, shopping, siteseeing, and my fav was a Mineral & Gem shop just a short drive away. Very nice people there, they will even show you how to pan for gold.
Last comments: I will not be staying at Beaver Brook campground again. We spent way too much money for what little enjoyment we got out of the park.

I received five poor reviews for this campground in a span of 3 days. Obviously this was a group of (at least five) families camping together.
Camping during a holiday week is always going to be stressful.
Yes, it sounds like you had a bad time, but I am wondering if the fact that it was a holiday weekend had a large impact on your stay.
