That's Camping Review:

Approx Dates of Stay: 7/3/02 to 7/8/02. Overall Campground Rating: very good. This is our 3rd year camping at Bayley's and we will return again.

Good/Bad site #'s: There are a mixture of good and bad sites. “C”, “V”, “T”, and “R” are good areas. If you look at the campsite map, chances are a site on the outer edge of the campground would be a good choice. The sites in “W” section, which is by the river/pond have dirt bottoms and some sites are very small. They are very shady in this section, while most others are sunny. They added a few new elec/water sites to the Wilderness camping area, which took away some of the open grassy space that we found so appealing in past visits. The newly added sites looked a bit small and it would have been better to add a lesser amount of larger sites.

Activities and Amenities: The pools are clean. The two pools in the front are usually more crowded on busy weekends. We had 90° weather during our stay, and all pools were packed!

There is bike rentals, and there are two camp stores. The one in the front is the largest. We didn't feel the prices were too outrageous in the store, but the snack bar didn't offer a good value, at least in our opinion. The campground offers a free trolley ride to Old Orchard and Pine Point beaches. What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements. There are a couple of great fudge/candy shoppes in the area.

Last comments: We were a little bit disappointed on this trip to Bayley's. We stayed in a new area this time, and it wasn't bad, but we didn't like it as much as our last trips. And we thought the mosquitoes were unbearable this visit. I don't know if they cut down on the bug spraying or the weather was just too hot, but they seemed so much worse. We do still like it there, and have made it a yearly tradition to go camping there at least once a year. We are planning a return trip on Labor Day weekend.
