Larry gave us this review on 08/28/06. Dates of Stay: August 2006 (8/22 thru 8/27 2006). Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Our site was very close to the next site in the area we were in. Some sites are much larger and some were small like ours.
Owners and Staff: The staff is very friendly and helpful. They respond quickly to any issues.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: There is both wooded sites and grassy field sites. A new road was opened recently that gets you to the back areas much more quickly than traveling thru the campground.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: In the DR (Deer Run) area: where it says no camping on the online map are now large, grassy camping area with w/e/c hookups. That's where I'd want to be or on the ends in #'s: 26,35,36,44 on the ends or the DR as they are also much larger. Bad sites: DR 27-34 and DR 37-43. We were in 30 and our friends in 31 and the sites are small.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, fire ring, group camping area. Something for everyone. We preferred the grassy bottom sites to the pine/dirt bottom sites in other parts of the campground.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, The seaonals that we spoke with were friendly.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Very clean restrooms. Large showers with plenty of room for you and your stuff.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, ocean, river, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, live entertainment, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. The ocean and beach is just a mile away. A trolley is provided or it's an easy bike ride or drive to get there. Everything else is within the campground.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. Old Orchard beach is 4 miles away. Many things on route 1 just a short drive away. Great seafood is everywhere! Large beach is the main attraction if you ever leave the campground!
Last comments: We unfortunetly had 2 batches of noisy neighbors that were up at 6am every day or up all night. But complaints to the Bayleys staff fixed that immediately and we were thankful. There are 3 heated pools, 4 hot tubs, 2 fishing ponds, 1 pedal boat pond, river for kayaking, and tons of planned activities for kids. Also volleyball, basketball, baseball and fields to play in. Tons of things to do with out ever leaving the campground!
