Larry Krainson gave us this review on 09/07/05. Approx Dates of Stay: Sept 1-3, 2005.

Overall Campground Rating: excellent.

What stood out? Very clean. Large sites. Lots of staff available for help if needed. You may never want to leave as there are so many activities.

Owners and Staff: Super friendly and helpful staff. Very accomodating when we had a serious problem and change in our plans shortening our stay by 3 days.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: We stayed near one of the fishing ponds. Our site was larger than most other campground sites at other campgrounds. Plenty of shade and an easy walk to the bathrooms and showers.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

Good/Bad sites: n/a Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, large and spacious, sandy bottom, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, Ours was W16 and we'll be back to the same or near by site.

Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers,

Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Our only complaint was that there was no shelf or extra hooks for our change of clothes.

Activities and Amenities

pool, ocean, river, swimming, fishing, boat rentals, recreation hall, live entertainment, playground, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, dumping station, security gate. 2 pools visible upon entering the grounds plus hot tubs. And another pool near the pedal boats across the campground.

What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails. 2 miles away is Old Orchard Beach and other ocean beaches. A trolley is provided hourly or you can bike or drive to the beaches.

Last comments: We had to cut our stay short 4 days early due to a death in the immediate family back home. I notified the campground that we were leaving the night before and they (without asking us) refunded the remainder of our money plus the money we paid for the kayaking trip. We did not expect this and were touched by the staffs and owners compasion to our situation. Especially since we were (supposed to be there 6 days) there over Labor Day weekend 2005. We'll definetly be back and for a longer stay as there's so much to see and do in the area.
