Don gave us this review on 08/13/07. Dates of Stay: Aug, 7 thur 11th. Will You Return? No. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: not good.
What stood out? 3 Swimming pools, But kids who can't swim are not allowed to use any swim assisted devices. So If you have a you child who is still learning to swim do bother going to bayview...they will not allow them to swim in the pools.
Owners and Staff: Friendly but not helpful at all.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Nice large sites but very hilly. Not good for young children to ride bikes.
Overall Site Quality: not good
Campsite hookups: electric, water, sewer, cable, Campsite Descriptions: semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, stone bottom sites.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: The only issue we had was they are alway out of paper towels...they only have 2 in the restroom area and they were always empty.
Activities and Amenities
pool, video games, playground, camp store, pets allowed, security gate.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, amusements, nature trails.
Last comments: Very dissapointed with the rule on children swimming with floatation help. This campground has a rule for everything. Everywhere you look is another sign with another rule listed. They advertis as a family campground. But we found out it is best suited for familys with children 10-17. This was the only campground that I have ever been to that has so many unreasonable rules. They should post some on their website, but it may take up too much of their webpage doing so. They have lost me from ever camping there, even after my daugher learns to swim.

I found what you said to be most bizarre, so I called the campground this morning to make sure there wasn’t a misunderstanding. Nope, they don’t allow any flotation devices in the pool.
Now, I can understand a rule that disallows children with floaties unless they are accompanied by an adult, but to forbid them all together seems a bit over the top.
Thanks for your review!
Posted by That's Camping in the Northeast on 08/13/07I would like to clarify the floatation devices in question.
Only coatgaurd approved life vest and jackets are allowed The type approved for boating.
No noodles, floats, tubes, armbands, swimmies or unapproved “non coastguard” swimming floating suits or vests.
I have stayed at bayview many times. Our most recent stay was in July of 2007. I have two small children ages 3 & 4. Both were allowed to use coast guard approved lifevest. Which they swimn with in our own pool at home. Stress free swimming with toddlers is wonderful.Posted by lisa on 08/26/07I’ve stayed at Bay View many times and always had a great time. They do have a lot of rules but it makes it so my children are safe. If you want to go camping and be irresponsible by placing your children in danger then Bay View is not a good place for you. Bay View has always put my child’s and my own safety as top priority and I appreciate that. So it may mean my kids aren’t allowed to potentially drown or behave in a way that they may break their necks. As a caring and attentive parent I’d rather enjoy my vacation playing with my children using Bay View’s nice playgrounds, pools, planned activities (my kids love the crafts) and sitting around the campfire as a family. But if you’re unconcerned with your child’s safety then I’d rather you leave Bay View as the wonderful family orientated campground it is and stay somewhere else.
Posted by Nicole on 01/05/08I think the above post was harsh and judmental. You are basiclly calling this parent an unconcerned parent who just wants to throw their child in the pool. I understand where she was coming from. The indoor pool we belong to allows arm bands as long as the parent is in the pool with them. They find this acceptable and trust, me, they have many rules (all with safety in mind). (edited by That’s Camping)
Posted by tracy on 04/08/08Curious why the third post was allowed to stay. It was offensive to the reviewer by saying she or he is “irresponsible (by placing their child in danter)“, and “unconcerned” (about their child’s safety). Isn’t this a little mean? Why was it allowed to remain, after all the original poster was just giving an opinion. How can she be labeled these things with out actually knowing her? I think it should have been edited.
Posted by Leo on 04/24/08Leo, thanks for your concern, but I didn’t think the 3rd commenter was offensive. Yes, her statement was strong, but she was stating her opinion, just like the original reviewer.
I guess “mean-ness” is relative and depends on my mood when I feel like an edit is in order. I really don’t like to make any edits at all, but sometimes it is necessary.
Thanks for your post! I am glad you offered your thoughts!
