That's Camping Review: (6/01) Small, natural campground on the Baker River. The facility buildings might need a bit of updating, and the landscaping could be cleaned up a bit, but the campsites are just great. A little bit of highway noise from Rt. 25.
River is crystal clear and shallow in some areas. There is a sandy beach for swimming. Lots of site are along the river. Some have access to the river, and others are high on a banking, but have great views. Most of the river sites have no hookups, but there are a couple with electric and water. Some notable sites: 23(great mountain view), 12, 14, 15, 16, E, 29, 30, A, B, C. #s 8 to 11 are off the beach. Along with these, there are a few more that are great also. Sites are spacious, some are grassy, a lot are soft sandy bottomed. There are wooded sites, along with sunny ones. The campground does get a bit buggy, and the more woodsy your site is, the more bugs you will find. We had too many ants at our site as well.
Two bathhouses. The one by the office is old and needs a bit of updating. The second (main area) bathhouse is okay. 2 shower stalls, 3 stalls (each for men and women). Roomy showers with a changing area. A couple of small swing sets, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, large playing field, pool table, arcade games. Very near the Polar Caves, and a short ride to the White Mountains, Newfound Lake, Rt. 93. To sum up, the rustic bathrooms and grounds need some updating, but all can be overlooked if you have a riverside campsite.
