Cheryl Ann gave us this review on 06/29/08. Dates of Stay: 06/27 - 29, 2008. Will You Return? Undecided. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer
Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? Bad - sign in area was very small. Beautiful view of the lake upon arrival. Landscaping done at each seasonal site.
Owners and Staff: Owner: lives in the farm house at the entrance to the campground. Very friendly.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Dirt roads. Campground is right on the lake.
Overall Site Quality: very good
Good sites: Sites #5 & 6 (beach) Site #29 in the wooded area. For the beach sites you have to book ahead at least 1 1/2 yrs ahead. This is what the owner told us so I guess we were lucky to have gotten this site #5. Pull thru's: 12, 13, & 14; Tent: 33, 34, & 35 & 47 - 51 Bad sites: none
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, close to the road, grassy bottom, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise, This CG is loaded with seasonals. The sites that I have listed above are the only sites that are available for transients.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, too many seasonal sites. A few older/dirty trailers.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: One shower for the women and one for the men.
Activities and Amenities
lake, swimming, fishing, boating, playground, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. Playground - very dated. An old monkey bar. A digger and swaying turtle - that's it. No swings. They sell wood and ice, that's it.
What is nearby? Not too much in the immediate area. Easy 1/2 hr. to the Portsmouth area.
Last comments: We camped here 25 +/- yrs ago when her father owned the place. The only things that changed are the added sites of 47 - 51 and the fact that there are more seasonals here than I remember. This is a VERY rustic campground. No frills. No rec hall. No bright lights. Lots of birds to watch. Lake is not congested with large boats as there is a sand bar at the CG end of it. Would we go back: Possibly. If you want to just camp and relax this is the place. Quiet hour is 10 PM and it got quiet.
