Approx Dates of Stay: May 28-31, 2004. Overall Campground Rating: very good. What stood out? The owners are more than accomodating. Sites are large and spacious. Easy drive. Great value! Owners and Staff: One of the best things about this campground. I booked back in January and we got the best site fitted for our "growing" family. There was a mistake on our registration and the campground quickly fixed the problem and gave us a certificate for a free night. Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground is in the woods. It is peaceful and quite with no traffic noise. There is a lake at the back of the campground.
Overall Site Quality: excellent. Good/Bad site #'s: I didn't see any horrible sites. Site #32 and #23 are nice private sites. Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, Campsite Descriptions: wooded, semi-private, large and spacious, picnic table, fire ring, I was impressed with the size of the sites. Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, About 50% of the campground is seasonal. Seasonal campers weren't friendly or unfriendly. Neatly kept. Some of the seasonals had really nice large spacious sites.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? yes. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? no. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: This is the one part of the campground that needs improvement. There are three bath houses and two of them are in the "mostly seasonal" section. These bathhouses only have 1 shower each for men and women. However most sites have full hookup so this is probably not an issue for many RVs.
Activities and Amenities: pool, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, pets allowed, dumping station, The kids had fun in the rec hall playing pool and darts. The playground could use an update. The store contains the basics and then some. Wood is expensive though for a small bundle ($4.50). Activities were pretty good. The DJ was very good. Boat rentals are very reasonable and the lake was nice to explore with the kids. What is nearby? grocery stores, There is not much in the area and would not be ideal for a weeks vacation if you wanted to see sites. There is a grocery store about 1/2 mile down the road. The Cold Springs RV dealer is about 1 to 2 miles down the road. Last comments: Autumn Hills is a great location if you want to go camping for a weekend just to unwind and relax. At $29 a night for full hookup, quick drive (from Mass), large sites, quiteness, activities this place is a GREAT value!
