Overall Campground Rating: very good.
What stood out? The one thing I did not like about the appalacian campsites was the sound of the highway, I felt as though i was going to have a nice quiet peaceful evening but instead all I could hear was the tractor trailers all night long. We had trouble hearing each other talk outside because of the noise of the highway. I searched all through the campground in hopes of finding a site that maybe quiet, but I had no luck. The sites are really nice for motor homes and trailers, but the noise turns me off and seems worse during the weekdays. What I really liked about the appalacians campground is the atmostphere was very welcoming and friendly from staff and other campers. The sites were very clean and neat and large where you actually had a little privacy. Campers respected their surroundings.
Owners and Staff: Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Landscape was very clean and nice.
Overall Site Quality:
Good sites: farthest from the road Bad sites: Anywhere close to the highway 22 & 78
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, wifi Campsite Descriptions: sunny and open, wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, close to the road, picnic table, fire ring, highway noise
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers
Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: Did not use because I have a motorhome with equipted facilities.
Activities and Amenities
pool, pond, swimming, fishing, recreation hall, video games, bingo, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station. Pool area and playground very clean. Overall campground would be the place to go had it not been so close to the highway.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, nature trails.
