Allegany State Park - Redhouse
Dan gave this review 7/2000:
Fairly clean and modern, a few public water locations, free showers, accessible restrooms. 2 distinct camping areas, we tried Red House, closer to the main area of the park. Small camp store and laundry near it. Wide range of sites from from small/tent/no electric to ample size for camper/electric (the higher the letter coded loop, the larger and more hookups). Fire pits and picnic tables on each site. Pets are okay, on leash, with rabies vacc info/tag#. Most larger sites semi-secluded/partial shade. State Park is huge with plenty of hiking, biking, a couple small playgrounds, but didn't have a chance to check the beach/swimming/boat rental area. Lots of natural wildlife (including bear sightings, but rangers came by to say they don't bother people). Small town nearby, not a lot of tourism, more of an "outdoors" type trip.
