Larry gave us this review on 06/30/08. Dates of Stay: June 21-25, 2008. Will You Return? Yes. What did you camp in? Pop-up Trailer - Size of Camping Unit: 16 feet extended
Overall Campground Rating: excellent.
What stood out? very friendly people including employees, great location to local sites,
Owners and Staff: The staff was excellent and very friendly. We had a problem with our site (too small for camper and tent) initially and they worked with us to find a better, more suitable site and helped us park and position the camper. Then came back to check on us a short while later.
Camp landscaping and surroundings: Located under a forest of small pine trees, the campsites were on a bed of pine needles. even the sites smelled good (piney).
Overall Site Quality: excellent
Good sites: all that we could see. Bad sites: none really
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, cable, wifi wifi coverage is not thru whole campground and not free Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, semi-private, large and spacious, somewhat small, sandy bottom, pine needle bottom, picnic table, group camping area. No fire rings due to chance of serious forest fire. Grills off the ground only. Free wifi and better coverage would be a welcome change.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, The seasonals were very friendly.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. Coin-metered showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: With multiple bath houses & they were always clean. Coin showers, but even after a long 15 minute leisurely shower, there was still water left for more on my quarter.
Activities and Amenities
boating, camp store, ice cream, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. The kids (our son & a friend ages 13 & 15) were old enough to ride their bikes down to the beach (which they loved) w/o us. Other friends were near by and only a short walk or quick bike ride away.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, ocean or lake, nature trails. Ocean, lakes and rivers are very close by but not directly on the property. The ocean is just a 10 minute walk or bike away or a 3 minute ride. P-town with hiking and biking trails are 10 minutes away, as are whale watches and lots more. Wellfleet has drive in movies, national sea shore, kettle ponds, public beaches and more at 9 miles away. Everything is less than 15-20 min drive away.
Last comments: This is our 2nd stay here. We only had 5 days and it was wonderful. A very relaxing and quiet campground, even with the kids. My wife and I stayed in the camper, our son and his friend in a 12x10 tent & we still had plenty of room on the campsite. Next year we'll return for a much longer stay as the time goes by too quickly.
