What stood out? I have been going here for seven years and will continue to do so for a long time. This last year my wife and I decided for a change and visited two other campgrounds in the area and what a mistake. The reason for camping is to get away and relax and this campground has everything you need to do that. The reason for coming to this site was to let everyone know that We had reservations for two weeks but because of a family illness we needed to leave 5 days early. I did not ask for any money back nor did I expect any. Three days after getting home we had a hand written not from the owners saying they were sorry we had to leave so soon and in the card was a voucher for a free week next season with them. Now mind you I left five days early not a whole week. Excellent customer service
Owners and Staff: Under promise but over deliver is the only thing I can think off. All of the staff here ALWAYS go out of there way to make sure you are having a good time. Scuba Steve is the activities director and is a huge reason we choose to go to AofW every year. We have three children 2,6,11 and somehow he keeps everyone of them occupied with stuff to do. If you get a chance make sure to here steves band play at the chub pub
Camp landscaping and surroundings: The beech at the pond is groomed every morning. The playgrounds are always very well kept and in great condition. There is a very long 3mile drive down a dirt road when you come in but it always seems to be groomed and in nice condition.
Good sites: They really do not have a bad site in the whole place. Bad sites: The field would be a little tight for campers but if you reserve in time you would never have to stay in the field.
Campsite hookups: primitive tent, electric, water, sewer, wifi Campsite Descriptions: wooded, private, picnic table, fire ring, At check in they are always very clean and neat.
Cell Phone Service: I have sprint and have never had a problem getting a signal.
Seasonal Campers and Campsites: neat and orderly, friendly campers, We have gotten to know quite a few of the seasonal people. They are all very nice people.
Clean restrooms and showers? yes. Restrooms and showers need updating? no. free showers. Are restrooms accessible from all sites? yes. Additional comments on restrooms and showers: They have plenty of bathrooms and showers in the place. I could use the bathroom in our camper but i choose to use the showers here because they are always hot with plenty of pressure and clean.
pond, lake, swimming, fishing, boating, boat rentals, docks or moorings, recreation hall, video games, pool table, live entertainment, bingo, tv or movies, playground, theme weekends, kids planned activities, camp store, ice cream, AM coffee, snack bar, pets allowed, laundry room, dumping station, security gate. More than enough stuff to do. From the Dance at the outdoor stage with a bonfire to literally jumping into a mudpit they have plenty of stuff to do.
What is nearby? restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, amusements, nature trails.
Last comments: Are there always little things to complain about? YES but the job these people do is second to none and i would feel horrible giving them a survey of anything but excellent. Great Job AofW and we look forward to coming back.
