Final Decisions for Summer Vacation Plans - 2009

Posted on April 07, 2009 by That's Camping - Travel Plans

Yay! Relief! We finalized our camping plans for this summer.

  • Danforth Bay, Freedom, NH - July for 7 days - our annual stay
  • Ramblewood CG, Pittsburg, NH - August for 3 days- looking forward to this new (for us) campground, it’s across from First Conn Lake. We drove up to the Great North Woods last summer, and it was absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to seeing all the moose in Moose Alley.
  • Fransted Campground, Franconia, NH - August for 4 days - one of our all time fave campgrounds. It’s always a pleasure to stay here.
  • Balsam Woods, Abbot Village, Maine - August for 7 days - another new (for us) campground. Near to Moosehead Lake, and we might even take a day trip to Acadia National Park.
  • Danforth Bay, Freedom, NH - Labor Day Weekend

What are your plans for the 2009 season? Share them with us on our camping discussion forum.

  1. You are going to love Balsam Woods!!! We are coming in there Aug 14th I think it is.  We have gone every year for at least 5 and maybe more years. quiet with a pool for the kids and about 25 min from Moosehead lake and the towns.  Go to the bakery down the road from the CG that is nearer to Greenville, down campground rd, to main rd and take a Right and it is on the right.
Have a ball and leave some fun for us!

  3. The owners are new last year and are a young couple who want you to have a great time!  The previous owners got it going and were great, built it up to a great campground. It is clean and neat, they are always doing something to make it that way. There are many things to do in Moosehead area but quiet at the campground really.  Relax.  Too bad you are not there when we come in, would love to see how you liked it.  It is a long ride but worth it for us it takes about 4.5 hours to get there.  One tricky turn because of some road construction last year and the road to the campground can be missed so look for the signs but then you are there and settled in you will just love it I think.

  4. oh we like quiet and relaxing! I know, I am sorry that we aren’t going at the same time too! I will definitely update the site with all the details!

Thanks for the tip about the construction too. We’ll look for it. Dying to try the bakery too. I am a sweet addict!

  5. Sandie, just wanted to post again that we had a great time at Balsam Woods CG. We had a wonderful time on our ATV and also visiting that awesome bakery you recommended!

    We would definitely return.

I hope you are having a great time this week on your vacation!
