Review: Sea Basket in Wiscasset Maine

We found the most excellent seafood restaurant in the Mid Coast Maine area. The Sea Basket Restaurant is located on Rt 1 in Wiscasset Maine, across from Big Al’s store.
I have been on the hunt for the tastiest lobster roll, and I think I finally found the winner here! The lobster roll at the Sea Basket can be ordered with or without mayo (mayo on the side) and in my opinion this is a huge plus. I ordered the lobster roll without mayo, and also a large fish chowder. Both my choices for lunch were fantastic.
As you can see by my photo below, the lobster portion in my sandwich was very generous. And because there was no mayo, I felt I was tasting the lobster to the fullest flavor. Unlike some other restaurants that layer the bottom of the roll with lettuce, the Sea Basket only adds one slice of green lettuce (not icky iceberg lettuce that I hate.) I felt I got my monies worth at $13, compared to other restaurants on Maine’s coast.

My fish chowder (made with haddock) was absolutely superb. I savored each spoonful of this buttery chowder, bursting with fish, potatoes, and onions. I ordered the bowl for $6.50. There was also a smaller cup portion.

Mike ordered a clam basket, and he was very happy with his choice for lunch. It was a hefty portion for a good price of $13. They also offered a larger portion if you have a heartier appetite.

Sea Basket Restaurant serves excellent food and we felt they offer a good value too. We rate them an “A”

Have you tried the lobster roll at Red’s Eats?
Posted by campne on 08/15/05We haven’t tried Red’s yet! Every time we pass that restaurant, there is a line a block long!
Someday we may get lucky and find it on a slow day!Posted by That's Camping on 08/15/05
