Little Ponderosa Campground Closed (Boothbay, Maine)

The Little Ponderosa Campground in Boothbay, Maine has closed for business. What a shame. It is a fantastic campground. Very quaint and peaceful. About a week ago, we inquired about reservations, and we ended up choosing to stay at the Shore Hills Campground instead. It is good that they are returning deposits to their customers, in time for them to make reservations elsewhere. Plus, they could have just went out of business without returning any money at all. Very decent of them!
This is the message on their web site:
I don’t know if it is a permanent situation, I really hope that it is just for this year or two. Perhaps they can find a buyer. I really hope it stays as a campground, and doesn’t get sold for land to build houses or something. Some conglomerate hopefully won’t scoop it up for condos on the water.
Thanks to MaxFox, one of our web site visitors, for bringing this to our attention. We wish the owners of Little Ponderosa Campground good luck in the future!

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that! What a great campground we have such good memeories from there, we got engagaed there a few years ago, and this past September I nearly had my son there (went in to labor 3 hours upon return from a week there!) I hope someone can turn it around and open it for camping again!
Posted by Camper-rama on 03/31/08Just curious. We are two hard-working women business owners. Would there be an opportunity to discuss a lease option for the year? As, we would take over and run the entire business, maybe with a buy out option at the end? I am really serious as this is a passion for us both! Camping, working outside, working with people. We’re great at multi-tasking and are most interested as it appears that you have ample on-site living space.
Please give this some serious thought. And get right back to me! We are looking for options to offer the *regulars* their space, but also a wy to set up something for seasonal workers that are all in the service business and looking for affordable places to live! We could even shuttle them and save the parking problem!
Most sincerely,

If you are serious, then you would probably want to contact the actual campground owners. I can’t help you with it, I am just posting an article with the information that the campground closed.
Good luck
