Great Time at Danforth Bay

Well the weather during our 7 day vacation at Danforth wasn’t always the best, but we all had a great time anyway! I think if we were anyplace other than Danforth, our moods would have been a lot gloomier.
First I must say I was so pleased they decided to have the water slide from the carnival again on Sunday for a couple of hours! I know our nieces and nephews were extremely pleased to get a chance on the slide!
The snack bar has been expanded. There is a weekly fish fry/steak special on Fridays, along with breakfast, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, fried foods, and Bobby Sue’s ice cream! Excellent.
We didn’t get to try the fish fry, but on the whole, the snack bar was pretty good. Very well organized and a lot faster service than last year!
On Wednesday, Mike and our niece created their own tie-die shirts. Very crowded, as this is a popular activity. We got there after 1pm, and the rush was over, but it was still very busy. The staff was organized and very helpful. They were quick to refill dye bottles and help when needed. They really have a great staff!
I don’t believe the wi-fi internet connection has been installed throughout the park yet. I didn’t notice any wi-fi antennas, but the office/family room/pool area still offers wi-fi. I tested it while we drove into the campground, and the connection reached almost to the Canobie bathhouse. The first sites on Main Street should be able to connect with no problems.
The only thing I have a slight complaint about, and I hate to say it, because it really isn’t a complaint, but where the new sewage was installed, there are now open rough/rocky/dirt areas in between some camp sites. These areas need to be smoothed and maybe some shrubs and bushes planted. Some sites have lost a bit of privacy. Our site in particular was very open in the side/back, where there was a large open dirt area.
Yea, it sounds like I am being picky, doesn’t it?? I really wouldn’t bat an eyelash at most campgrounds having newly constructed areas. But Danforth is different. They run an impeccable establishment and exceed normal campground standards.
I guess the trade-off is the fact that there is now sewage in the new area, and we really are grateful for that! But if anyone is reading this from Danforth, (hint hint) maybe next season, a little bit of plant-life can be added back.
All in all, we had an awesome time, and have made our reservations for next year. We switched to a different site, but basically we will be in the same area. Our families love Danforth and it has become a yearly tradition!
Thank you Danforth Bay for making our stay so wonderful!

The comment area is open for approximately one year after the article date.
Well Debbie I think Dave and I would have to agree with you about the sites being less private than last year. We walked around and really checked these sites out and that was our first comment, but like you said, at least they have septic and Danforth is still #1 in our books too, it’s the best.
One other thing that we and our friends noticed is the teenagers were a little out of control and we actually ran into a few problems with them. Our friends were at a busy intersection(which they hated) and even after 11:00 these kids were still out causing trouble and being very noisy and didn’t seem to be spoken to. I know no matter were you go you run into this, but I think security should have stepped in alittle more and maybe teens should have a 10:00 curfew.
What do you think??
I still really miss it there and the kids talk about it every day,it’s a beautiful place.
Talk again soon!Posted by Karen C on 07/20/04Wow, I am sorry to hear that there was a problem after the quiet hour. I know they do try to give teens *special* night-time things to do, but it is so hard, because teens just like to walk around and hang out in groups.
And I do remember where your friends were located, and that spot *was* busy.
They do have a specific rule that all kids under 18 must be at their campsite by 11pm, so they should definitely enforce it.
Anyway, if your friend experiences a problem again (on their next stay) they should defintely mention something to the staff. And there is also a number to call for after-hours problems.
So glad to talk to you Karen!
