Grandma’s Kitchen is located on Rt 3 in Whitefield, NH. They serve breakfast all day!
Besides breakfast food, there is a huge selection of dinner choices. It reminded me of diner food! Meatloaf, turkey & stuffing, stuffed chicken, ham, fried chicken, sandwiches, pasta, steak, seafood. Lots of variety.
Mike ordered the fried chicken and I ordered the turkey/stuffing dinner.
As for food quality, well, we give it a grade of “B-”
Not as excellent as other diner restaurants, but still pretty good. Broccoli was way over cooked (doesn’t grandma know that veggies are supposed to be served al dente for vitamin retention?), the cole slaw was too mayonaisey (although Mike thought it was good), the mashed potatoes were ‘ok’, turkey was good, fried chicken was good, and fries were good.
Nothing outstanding, just good. Oh and it should be noted, that the food was prepared without a lot of salt/sodium, so it might be a good choice for those that have special low salt diets.
As owner/operater
I do have a comment on this article. Im surprised that your meal was not rated higher. We get lots of possitive feed back, now and again I guess we’re going to hear some negative comments. We did get picked as one of the top 20 in the August 2004, Travel & Leasure magazine for NH Dining. This was very nice article with lots of possitive comments. As far as vegetables-we are one of the few I know of that offer a choice of vegetables. They are also fresh, not frozen or out of a can. We know they should be cooked al dente. 75% of our year-round local regular customers prefer them soft. People rave about our fresh cooked turkeys, homemade stuffing, and our homemade coleslaw ,three items you metioned above. Please reply to me via email, we would like to know the date and time you ate at our establishment. This will enable us to take a closer look at the staff, to help us better serve our customers.
Thank you,
Linda Streeter

Hey Linda, thanks for commenting. I will also send you an email, but wanted to post here as well.
It sounds like your regular customers like the way you do things over there, and that is great!
Personally, I like my veggies lightly cooked, and I don’t like a lot of mayo with my cole slaw. It is just my opinion, and not necessarily right or wrong. If your customers like the way you prepare food, then those are the people that you have to satisfy.
And truthfully, our review was not negative. “B-” isn’t a bad rating! ![]()
Maybe we just happened upon your restaurant on an ‘off’ night. If you have many satisfied customers, then you must be doing something correctly!
Good luck with your restaurant!

Linda, your email address bounced as a permanent error, so I cannot email a response to you personally. You probably will not get these comments either if you asked for follow up notification.
