Our budgie Jack loves to go camping with us in our travel trailer, so I thought I would share a few tips with you about camping with a parakeet.
We have two cages for Jack (actually three if you include the one for the house.) We use a small travel size cage for driving in the car. We buckle him up safely in the back seat using the seatbelt. I don't add any hard toys in the cage so he won't get hurt. He has a couple small perches along with water and some seeds.

I usually cover most of the cage and he sometimes sleeps or peeks his head around the cover, depending on his mood. I find he is happier when the cage is darker.
For the travel trailer, we have a medium sized cage. Jack is a free-flight bird so he can come out of his cage and fly around the trailer if he wants to. He also likes to eat with us.
We are extremely careful to make sure he is safely in his cage if we are opening the trailer door, so he won't accidentally fly outside.
We leave Jack in the trailer by the window and he is happy to look outside and listen to the "call of the wild." During the daytime hours, he will sometimes sit outside with us (in his cage of course) while we eat breakfast. If we have our screen house set up, he likes to spend time in there as well.
We don't bring him outside if it is buggy. I can't take a chance that he would get bit by a mosquito or another bug.
If you would like to bring your bird camping, it can be very fun and rewarding for both you and him. Just remember to be safe!
