Camping with a Cell Phone?

Do you take your cell phone along when camping? And do you get service at most campgrounds? This is absolutely not an ad for them, but we rarely have any problems connecting with our cell phone and we use Verizon Wireless. We have been using Verizon for years, and they are getting better and better. Their service is awesome. I know many times we have camped, and our friends and family have no service at all, while we still do. Yes, sometimes it can be sketchy in the mountain areas, but on the whole, if our phone doesn’t get service, then no one else has it either.

Hi Debbie,
Our cell phone usually stays off and we rarely use it while camping. The exceptions would be if we have a “guest child” with us or need to call to get info about an attraction or something.
I think cell phones should be put on vibrate when you are camping. We hear those tones enough during the week. Camping is a time to relax. Just my opinion ;->

Even though it rarely rings, I like to call my family. It is nice to keep connected to the real world, at least for us.Posted by That's Camping on 03/16/04Well, we camp to intentionally become dis-connected to the world! You will never find a TV, radio, computer or ANY other electronics in our camper. And the intrusion of other campers beeps, clicks and noise really drives us crazy!
