What stood out? Since the new owners took over for the 2005 Season, it has been nothing but horrible. They do not like the younger crowd. They want people who are older and quiet. The bathrooms are not clean, bugs are on the walls in the ladies room. There is no water pressure. There are not enough activities for weekend activities. There NO activities during the week.

What stood out? Owners are very friendly, willing to help and offer advice on local area. They have a very clean (unheated) pool that is in the sun from about 11am to 5pm. Store is well equipped. What stood out? You need to know that I just drove through to check it out and it wasn't great. The bathrooms were dirty and the floors in the bathroom were rotted. Some of the sites were open with no privacy, some were wooded but tight, and one had a septic system sticking out of the ground(The site didn't even have a sewer accommodation.)

Overall Campground Rating: horrible.

What stood out? The noise and lack of patrol. The lake residents near Neals cove partied all night long. This was an actual lake home above a beach across from the group camping area. The language was so bad we thought about leaving at 2 AM as our students could not sleep. We phoned the police. The police seemedto do a drive by but the offenders hushed up only for the brief time the officers drove by...then they started right back up....

Owners and Staff: Never met them, in the front office they seemed very helpful and nice. Camp landscaping and surroundings: The campground was beautiful. It was all so very clean.

That's Camping Review: 1998* What a beautiful campground! We would probably stay there a lot more often, but all the great sites are booked so far in advance. The sites on Horse Island are the best. Some are right on the water (good examples include #s 4,14, 16, 21, 47, 48, 54, 56, 62, 63, 71, 75) and some have water views. Big Island and Neals Cove also have water views, but they are not as cool as Horse...

Overall Campground Rating: very good.

What stood out? The good: Beautiful lakeside location. The bad: Rest rooms could be cleaner.

Owners and Staff: Friendly and efficient.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Heavily wooded, mostly pine trees with shrubs and blueberry bushes. Road to campsites are paved. There is a swimming beach and hiking trails. The local area is rural but stores within a 10 minute drive.

Overall Site Quality: excellent

What stood out? Good: Large sites. We reserved early and obtained a site (#8) on Horse Island right next to the site we had last year (#7). Restrooms/showers are directly across from site. Restrooms are clean for a state park. Sites are also clean. Staff friendly. Bad: Another camper with a large travel trailer w/slide out in the site (#11) next to our site had a "quiet"...

What stood out? No rules enforcement. public drinking is common, golf carts, scooters and cars driving way too fast. Lots of muddy areas around campsites. Several incidents of loud behavior long after the 11:00PM quiet hour. Some bathroms are horrid, poorly maintained and frequently run out of supplies. Picnic tables and fireplaces are horrid....

What stood out? The bathrooms were not well maintained and were often out of supplies (soap and toilet paper). Only 1 shower out of 4 was functional. Little to no hot water.

Owners and Staff: Only went to the office once, and the lady there was friendly. Guards were also friendly. Had no interaction with owners. There was no security presence and the quiet hour rules...

Owners and Staff: The staff seemed to be friendly, but we were greeted when checking in by friends of the lady checking us in, drinking a beer.

Camp landscaping and surroundings: Pool was nice, needs some maintenance work on cement, mini golf looked like it wasn't used in years, found beetles in dryers, buildings run down looking....
