Well one more Danforth Bay weekend has come and gone. This will be our last visit until July, when we will stay for the week.
Chocura Circle
We stayed up in the Chocura Circle area. It was very hot, and I wished we stayed in the Lovell/upper Main St area instead. There is such a lovely lake breeze in the area up there.
There were lots of big rig buses staying in the inner circle (Providence

A fellow camper emailed me the link to this article:
Appalachian Campsites in Pennsylvania receives huge fine
The fine was imposed due to 136 illegal septic hookups. Even though they are taking reservations for this season, the campground appears to be abandoned. If anyone has reservations at Appalachian Campsites in Shartlesville, Pennsylvania you better think twice. They could be taking your

We had a fantastic time at Danforth Bay. We stayed at Chocoura Circle, one of our favorite spots. The sites were fairly busy in that area, but the place on the whole was very quiet. I loved it! Peaceful and wonderful!
We actually noticed some nice changes there since our last visit. At the new Lovell Loop bathhouse, there is a dumping station just for portable tanks. How cool is that?! At our

There is a huge problem with Asian longhorn beetles invading trees in New England.
Did you know that New Hampshire and Vermont are now banning wood from out of state sources, so they can combat the problem?
From Wikipedia:
The Asian Longhorn Beetle is considered an invasive species in North America, where it is a serious threat to many species of deciduous hardwood trees. During the larval

Eric wrote to us last week informing us that Blueberry Shores Campground has been sold, and unfortunately isn’t a campground anymore. It is going to be develped for housing (I assume)
This is bad news. The campground was terrible, but the location was awesome. Oh well, time to remove those old

We returned from our vacation to Danforth Bay. The weather turned out to be quite nice, and we really had a wonderful time. We rented both a kayak and a paddleboat (new at Danforth Bay this season) and we also biked and walked.
We had the opportunity to hang out with a few That’s Camping regular visitors, Whistling Dixie (and family), and Bob, Patty, and family. It was terrific and I miss

Getting ready for this weekend for our trip to Wild Acres in Old Orchard, Maine. We wrote a drive-thru review a few years back, but never stayed there. It seems like a wonderful place from what I have heard from others. The only concern I have is the train noise. I will be sure to post a review soon. In the meantime, I need to get busy and post reviews on the campgrounds we visited last week. The

At the end of the 2005 season, we announced our first contest, with many generous prizes donations. The entry requirement was to send a favorite camping memory from the season. We received so many touching and warm stories, it was thrilling to read them all!
We realized how blessed we are to have so many kind, considerate and friendly visitors to our web site. Camping is such a wonderful way to

New Hampshire Campground Associations’ web site now offers Holiday/Event Weekend Site Availability Search. Find out which campgrounds have sites available for the upcoming season for Memorial Day, Bike Week, 4th of July, July Nascar Race, Labor Day, September Nascar Race, Highland Games, and Columbus Day. I don’ t know how up to date the database is, but it is a fantastic idea if it

After we left South Arm Campground, we took the long trek to Wiscasset, Maine in the Mid Coast area. Our next stop was Chewonki Campground.
When we first drove in, the views were tremendous. We stopped at the office to register, and the owner was just lovely. So friendly and made me feel right at home.
We stayed on site #18. The view was breathtaking. Rolling grassy hills. And a peaceful calm

During our stay at Danforth Bay, we found out that there is a planned rally during Columbus Day weekend for some of the RV.net posters.
Check out this tread at the rv.net forum to find out the details.
We will be at Danforth Bay on Columbus Day and it is one of our favorite weekends to go to Danforth. Trick or Treating throughout the park, costume and site decorating contest! The fall foliage,

Just returned from Danforth Bay. What a fantastic time! Our neice was with us, and we had a blast. The Sandwich Fair was excellent. When I find time, photos are coming soon.
Halloween Trick or Treat was so much fun. I was a little disappointed because we usually have time to bikeride ahead of time to check all the decorations throughout the whole campground. This year, we returned from the fair,

Just a quick tip. Always call the campground a few days ahead of time to confirm your reservations. You never know when something might have messed up, and it might be easier to try to fix it on the phone during a less busy time during the week than at check-in time on a busy Friday or Saturday.
Happy

We are getting ready to leave on a mini vacation on Tuesday afternoon. Yay! Danforth Bay here we come! We missed you!
We are glad the weather is going to be great all week, but it is disappointing that Saturday, there could be showers - the day of the Pine Derby. New England Camper and family are camping this weekend as well, and he has been raving about the Pine Derby! I am dying to see how
