We receive many personal requests for campground advice, but we try not to make specific recommendations. Our perceived judgement of a campground may not be the same as yours, and every camper's requirements are different. We have written several campground reviews, so you can get an idea of which campgrounds we enjoy.
First, for each northeastern state, there is a Campground Owners Association web site, with a clickable state area map. Below, you will find several links to the clickable regional maps for each state:
Click on a region, and find a few campgrounds that sound interesting. Then come back to That's Camping and read the campground reviews for that region or specific campground(s).
If you would like to find a review for a particular campground, check out the full regional listing of all campground reviews.
If you are unsure on which region to visit on your weekend or vacation, there is detailed regional information on each of the Campground Owners Association web site. There should also be other tourism links as well. We have a detailed Links Page listing many regional web links.
Don't forget to visit our Discussion Forum; it's a great place to ask questions, whether you are looking for a campground or need advice on your next RV purchase. Check it out!
Yes and no. Remember, campground reviews are just opinions!
When we write our reviews, we try to consider all aspects of the camping experience, but our point of view may be different from yours. Some of the campgrounds we listed we have personally stayed at. Others are just "drive-through" explorations, and are noted that way.
The majority of campground reviews are written by other campers (not affiliated with That's Camping.) If one family had a bad time at a particular campground, it might be an isolated experience. There might be ten other families that had a great time at that same campground.
The same goes for the good reviews too. The RV'r that had a splendid time in his warm travel trailer might have a totally different experience than a tenter did on that same rainy weekend.
Some campers like peaceful nights and respect quiet hours. Some campers like to stay up and party. Both would have a different outlook of their stay at the campground, especially if the rowdy camper was asked to leave the campground early.
Please keep an open mind when reading the reviews and choosing a campground.

Hello! My name is Debbie and I am the web developer and designer here at That's Camping. I keep things running smoothly (or not so smoothly, depending on the day) My husband's name is Mike and he takes care of all the physical work, like setting up the trailer, emptying the holding tanks, all that good stuff. We make a good team!
Mike took me on my first camping trip in 1992, and I found I really enjoyed it. For many years, we camped in either a pickup truck or conversion van, usually without electric and water. I never liked tenting too much; I just couldn't get used to being so close to the ground.
Our first travel trailer was an old Yellowstone 16 ft. travel trailer. Mike originally found it in sad disrepair, but had a vision and fixed it up very nicely. We nicknamed it the "Cream Puff". It was such a pretty trailer with all natural varnished wood. I loved that trailer, except that it didn't come equipped with a bathroom. After a short time, we decided we needed more room (and a bathroom), so we purchased a used 1992 Sunline #2051. We camped for many happy years in that trailer, but we soon started to yearn for something brand new.
So, in 2003, we purchased a brand new Sunline #2553. We nicknamed this trailer "The Eclair" since it was larger than the old Cream Puff and had better filling. (BAD joke, sorry!)
Back in 1999, before a road trip to Florida, I found a Disney fan site called "Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney Information Guide (WDWIG)" now called All Ears Net. I was impressed with the detailed information on specific regional information for hotels, restaurants, Disney parks, etc. Our trip was better organized because of her web site. It inspired me to follow her example and produce our own (regional) Northeast campground reviews web site. And that is initially how That's Camping was born.
We envisioned a web site to share honest opinions of the campgrounds in the Northeast and New England region. It is difficult to pick a campground or campsite by just looking at a brochure or map, so we wanted to make it easier for campers to find unbiased reviews on area campgrounds. Besides our own reviews, you will find campground reviews written by other campers. In fact, the majority of reviews are actually written by other campers.
We also have many Camping Articles that you might find helpful.
This site is always growing, so check back often or if you want to receive email updates...
Whether you are camping in a pop-up, tent, trailer, or mobile home, camping can be a fun experience for everyone!
We hope you enjoy the site!
