Home from a rain and snow filled weekend
« on: April 18, 2010, 01:36:14 PM »
Home from Scout camping weekend in Ossipee.  Had plenty of rain and snow from Friday night to early Sunday morning, the sun came out as we were packing up.  Still had a good weekend, good food and general good time.

Sounds like fun. Question - Are scouts still as popular as they used to be?  I grew up on scouting and have some great memories. One was on a camping trip, where one camper actually slashed my tent. It was so cold I woke up and my hair was frosted.

Needs more Facebook fans. I'm lonely

It is still pretty popular, maybe not quite what it once was.  There are 4 troops in our town, we have 20 boys registered and active so that is good for us.  That number is up from 10 or so 3 years ago.  I guess I got a new name this weekend, the Jolly Scoutmaster as I was doing anything to keep the boys spirits up during the bad weather.

Where did you go camping in Ossippee? We had a good friend who owned the camp next to the Marist camp on Rte 27 (I believe) and since he died we haven't been back up there. We spent the winter in Florida in our 38ft 5th wheel Everest but the weather was terrible! Wind and cold weather every day but the Canadians spent the days in shorts in order to get a tan.We used 6 thirty pound propane tanks just to stay warm. Now we are planning a trip back to NYC and suburbs for May. Enjoy the coming summer and keep updating the Blog

A friend has a camp on White Pond so that is where we stayed.
